ONE VOICE (not Ellsworth Monkton Toohey): Andrei Tarkovsky's Mirror is one of my all-time favorite films and it's great to see it in available in a competent English-friendly Blu-ray edition - thanks to Artificial Eye. Special note must be made from Kino Lorber's impressive Pioneers of African American Cinema 5 Blu-ray package. An incredible historical artefact - an absolute treasure-trove of value. We've added/compared Arrow's Blu-ray of The Ox-Bow Incident - another essential film in HD. Suture is a wonderful Noir-esque modern thriller / mystery exploring questions of identity, memory, and the duality of mind and body. Another great Blu-ray from Arrow. We've added Twilight Time's region free Blu-ray of the 1959 Cushing / Lee Sherlock Holmes classic The Hound of the Baskervilles. Ken Russell's enigmatic Crimes of Passion - exploring sexual taboos reaches Blu-ray in another stacked package from Arrow. On DVD Gregory compares Warner Archive's Station West with Dick Powell and Jane Greer with the old French SD..

Suture BD - The wealthy and self-assured Vincent (Michael Harris) meets his blue collar half-brother Clay (Dennis Haysbert) at their father s funeral and is struck by their similarity. He decides to murder Clay and take his identity, only Clay survives the assassination attempt with no memory and is mistaken for Vincent. The fact that Harris is white and Haysbert is black only complicates a film that probes into the nature of identity. Blu-ray Release date: July 4th-5th, 2016

Pioneers of African American Cinema BD - This collection of the historically vital works of America's legendary first African-American filmmakers is the only one of its kind. Funded in part by a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, the packaged set includes no fewer than a dozen feature-length films and nearly twice as many shorts and rare fragments. Subject matter includes race issues that went unaddressed by Hollywood for decades. Blu-ray Release Date: July 26th, 2016

Crimes of Passion BD - Fashion designer Joanna Crane (Turner) leads a double life. By night she is China Blue, a prostitute who s attracted the unwanted attention of two men. One is a sexually frustrated private detective hired by her employees. The other is psychopathic priest (played by Norman Bates himself, Anthony Perkins) in possession of a murderous sex toy. Blu-ray Release date: July 11th + 19th, 2016

The Hound of the Baskervilles BD - Rising up out of the swirling mists of Dartmoor, Baskerville Hall stands tall and gloomy. Its occupant, Charles Baskerville, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances. Could Sir Charles have been the victim of the so-called Baskerville Curse , which tells of a deadly beast that stalks the surrounding countryside? Unperturbed by the legend, next-in-line Sir Henry Baskerville (a rare leading man performance from Lee) sets out to Dartmoor to assume inheritance of the family estate, under the auspices of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and right-hand man Dr. Watson (Andre Morell). Twilight Time Blu-ray Release date: July, 2016

The Ox-Bow Incident (Arrow added) BD - This now-classic indictment of mob rule was a pet project of both star Henry Fonda and director William Wellman, both of whom agreed to work on lesser 20th Century-Fox projects in exchange for this film. After a hard winter on the range, cowboys Gil Carter (Fonda) and Art Croft (Harry Morgan) ride into a fleabitten small town for a drink. Within minutes, they get mixed up in a barroom brawl, which earns them the animosity of the locals. By and by, word reaches town that a local rancher has been killed by rustlers. Arrow Blu-ray Release Date: July 4th, 2016

Mirror BD - Mirror (Russian title 'Zerkalo') from 1975, is Tarkovsky's fourth of seven feature films. It has relevancy being numerically "central" in his oeuvre also marking itself as, by the director's own account, 'My most openly autobiographical, daring, and self-revealing film'. Infused with dense, personal references from memory and an inaccessible use of time, space and performances, this is considered the director most artistically bold work being steeped in layered constructions. Artificial Eye Blu-ray Release Date: July 25th, 2016

Station West - Station West may look like a western, but it sure sounds like a contemporary film noir. Dick Powell stars as Haven, a government private investigator assigned to investigate the murders of two cavalrymen. Travelling incognito, Haven arrives in a small frontier outpost, where leggy saloon singer Charlie (Jane Greer) controls all illegal activities. After making short work of Charlie's burly henchman (Guinn Williams), Haven gets a job at her gambling emporium, biding his time and gathering evidence against the gorgeous crime chieftain Cast as a philosophical bartender, Burl Ives is afforded at least one opportunity to sing. Station West was one of a handful of RKO Radio films released to the 8-millimeter home-movie market in the mid-1970s. Warner Archive DVD Release Date: January 12th, 2016
