(aka 'Love Is a Woman')

directed by Frederic Goode

UK 1966

Making a spectacular change from teen pop sensation to actress, Logie-Award-winning Australian singer Patsy Ann Noble is the scene-stealing, bikini-clad femme fatale in this stylish, cleverly plotted murder mystery. Giving Noble one of her earliest film roles and also starring Mark Burns, Wanda Ventham and Shaun Curry, Death Is a Woman is presented here in a brand-new digital transfer in its original theatrical aspect ratio.

An undercover agent is sent to investigate narcotics smuggling on a sun-drenched Mediterranean island. However, when both of his principal subjects die in mysterious circumstances, he soon finds that he is also involved in a murder investigation...

Comments

Another competent and watchable, reasonably-priced, single-layered SD PAL transfer from Network out of the UK. The film is a lot of James Bond-like style but short on the substance and has some nasty characters including the lead femme-fatale badass. Nothing is of a strong nature - neither the video image, audio nor the film itself but it does have enough value to indulge, IMO. There are no subtitles on the region 2 disc.

Extras include a trailer, and 8-minutes of an alternate scene (with no audio), an image gallery and some pressbook PDF information at the root of the SD disc.

The film has some merit, if only a 'sexy' atmosphere and some reasonable production values. Worth a spin, if only once.
