ADDITION: AGFA Blu-ray (September 2022): AGFA have transferred another handful of Doris Wishman films to three dual-layered Blu-rays. We reviewed the first release; The Films of Doris Wishman: The Twilight Years on Blu-ray HERE. Six of the films, The Sex Perils of Paulette (1965) Bad Girls Go to Hell (1965) The Hot Month of August (1966), Another Day, Another Man (1966). My Brother's Wife (1966), and Indecent Desires (1968) are cited as being from "2K restorations from the original 35mm camera negatives". Three films, A Taste of Flesh, Passion Fever and Too Much Too Often! are "Preserved from the Something Weird S-VHS master." with the comment that 'original film elements for these titles have been lost'. The latter can show a "SWV" watermark in the bottom right corner (see samples below). The image quality of these three are significantly below the image quality of the other six that are impressive in 1080P with occasional frame-specific damage (see samples below.) But these aberrations seem relatively infrequent. Quality varies but most look surprisingly strong with adept contrast. There are in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio, all in monochrome, with high bitrates. Detail is pleasing, with textures apparent.

NOTE: Doris Wishman is credited as co-director of the Greek production Hot Month of August because she re-edited the movie for the U.S. market, adding several soft-core sex scenes without the knowledge or participation of director Sokrates Kapsaskis. The version in this release was the only version of the film ever released in the US. This probably looks the best in the package.

Another Greek film Pyretos - was purchased by Wishman although she supposedly lost the dialogue translation. Once again she re-edited, adding nudity as well as new (DUB'ed) dialogue. This is part of the 'Moonlight Years' set as Passion Fever. 

On their Blu-ray, AGFA use a DTS-HD Master dual-mono track (24-bit) in the original English language. They all seem to have obvious post-DUBing and no credited scores aside from Hot Month of August music is credited to Stavros Xarhakos (worked on the soundtrack of Woody Allen's Mighty Aphrodite.) The sound may be a notch lower than the HD video, but simply a function of the low-budget productions. It's all audible. AGFA offer optional English subtitles on their Region FREE Blu-ray.

The AGFA Blu-ray offer commentaries with Doris Wishman biographer Michael Bowen (Embodiment and Realization: The Many Film-Bodies of Doris Wishman) on My Brother's Wife. On Bad Girls Go to Hell is a commentary by filmmaker Frank Henenlotter. He also did the commentary on the recently reviewed The Curios Dr. Humpp and I really enjoy his insights. There is also a commentary for Indecent Desires by queer film historian Elizabeth Purchell. I recall her well-researched commentary on the Vinegar Syndrome's Blu-ray of Reform School Girls. There are also theatrical trailers for most of the films (with the final screen showing the title stating "(Adults Only") and a “Moonlight Years” photo gallery. The package has a liner notes booklet with writing from Something Weird’s Lisa Petrucci and a vintage Doris Wishman interview by author Mike Watt.

Doris Wishman's films here in this package have aspects of BDSM, fetishism, assault, abuse, alcoholism, objectification, stolen innocence etc. and we can see the same actors, same sets (occasionally Doris Wishman's apartment), heavy eye-make-up and bulky lingerie throughout. They are easily categorized as sexploitation and soft-to-harder pornography of which Wishman is considered to be a pioneer. Antiobscenity laws prohibited the showing of many of her films for decades. So AGFA's The Films of Doris Wishman: The Moonlight Years triple Blu-ray set is a continuation of the first package; The Films of Doris Wishman: The Twilight Years on Blu-ray although these are earlier films - where she is often credit as "Louis Silverman". I imagine these being popular at bachelor stags at some point and they retain historical significance as a kind of genre time-capsule. They can engender a kitschy-ness and the set is recommended to a minute niche - who, like The Twilight Years set, probably already know who they are. I can't imagine anyone doing a more complete set - and these do have the commentaries as worthwhile supplements.
