Unlike the latter 'Season' Packages from Universal - they go back to only 6 episodes over 3 single-sided dual-layered discs. But these 'movies' are a longer though at approx. 1:35:00 each. Devoid of extras (interviews etc.) but this boxset contains some of the better detective entertainment that I can recall. Only English Hard-of-Hearing subtitles are offered as an option. Image/Audio quality are quite strong for TV transfers - detail is very good - what appears to be 'grain' often shows although it may be fine noise. I don't watch a lot of TV on DVD but personally I find these Columbo Boxsets some of the most consistent transfers that I have seen with surprisingly decent colors at times. All 'movies' are very clean and progressively transferred.
Since receiving this set
I watched about one Columbo every-other night. It was totally enjoyable
- making you wish there were more to view in the set. Two 'movies' in particular stuck out
in my mind as premium Columbo - 'Rest in Piece, Mrs. Columbo' and
'Columbo Goes To College'. Both brilliantly solved. For fans I
give this a strong recommendation. This is as good as any of the other
single season programs I watched. Love seeing Culp and, the late,
McGoohan again. If you are new to Columbo, as well,
this is a great way to start - just be careful - it is highly addictive!
