ADDITION: Arrow Blu-ray (January 2023): Arrow have transferred Lukas Moodysson's Together to Blu-ray as part of their The Lukas Moodysson Collection that has Fucking Åmål, Together, Lilya 4-ever, A Hole in My Heart, Container, Mammoth, and We Are The Best!  It is cited as being from a "4K restoration by the Swedish Film Institute from the original camera negative, approved by director Lukas Moodysson and cinematographer Ulf Brantås". We reviewed the bare-bones MGM DVD from 2004, HERE - and compared some captures below. It is a typical upgrade over SD with more true, deeper, colors, better contrast and superior detail in the 1080P.

On their Blu-ray, Arrow offer the option of a DTS-HD Master 5.1 surround track or a linear PCM 2.0 channel (both 24-bit) in the original Swedish language. Together has no credited score but there is plenty of music including ABBA's SOS, Nazareth's Love Hurts - plus sampling pieces by Maggie Bell, Hoola Bandoola Band, Pugh Rogefeldt, Ted Gärdestad, Tony Hung, Peps Persson, International Harvester, Bo Hansson, Nationalteatern, Turid Lundqvist, Olle Sarri and others. It sounds clear without demonstrative separation in the surround. Dialogue is audible in the lossless. Arrow offer optional English subtitles on their Region FREE Blu-ray.

Included on the Arrow Blu-ray is another interview, the second part, with Lukas Moodysson by film programmer Sarah Lutton, newly produced by Arrow Video, discussing the making of his second feature for 1/4 hour. There is also a 1/2 hour interview with editor Michal Leszczylowski discussing his work most of Lukas Moodysson's films. Included is a 23-minute with script supervisor Mahn Fornander talks about her experiences working with Lukas Moodysson on many of his films. Included are ten minutes of a dozen deleted scenes. There are UK and Swedish theatrical trailers, Swedish TV spots and an image gallery. The package also has a 200-page hardback book featuring new writing by Peter Walsh, excerpts from the original press kits for each film, including interviews with and directors’ statements from Moodysson, and essays on his films from a 2014 special issue of the Nordic culture journal Scandinavica by C. Claire Thomson, Helga H. Lúthersdóttir, Elina Nilsson, Scott MacKenzie & Anna Westerståhl Stenport and Kjerstin Moody.

Lukas Moodysson's Together is a satirical view of socialist values - a poignant, and touching comedy. It attacks the dogmatic stance of idealism with the underlying theme of growth through bonding and communication. It's brilliant. A sequel titled Together 99 is in post-production (2023) with the commune seen 24-years later with only two people left - Göran and Klasse. They consider a reunion with their old friends. Together is an essential part of Arrow's The Lukas Moodysson Collection Blu-ray package. I enjoyed my viewing so much and the extras give it further value. This is a great set - strongly recommended!
