(aka "The Milkmaid")
Directed by Dan Wolman
Sweden / USA 1971
Cult-film starlet Christina Lindberg (Thriller: A Cruel Picture, Anita: Swedish Nymphet) shines in this erotic coming-of-age story. When young Inga (Lindberg), a country milkmaid, visits her emancipated libertine sister in the big city of Stockholm, her innocence shatters. Possessing a luminous beauty and the proclivity to disrobe at the drop of a hat, she discovers sex for the first time and is forever changed by the harshness of her exposure to life. Some girls only dream about it…but Inga makes her deep sexual dreams come true in this steamy ’70s classic now in eye-popping HD! *** Schoolgirl Inga goes to visit her sister in Stockholm and is shocked to find her living with her boyfriend, Casten. |

On their
Blu-ray,
Kino use a DTS-HD Master dual-mono track (24-bit) in the
original English language. Maid in Sweden
has no aggressive effects although a scream or two - but Maid in Sweden
has six musical pieces sung by John Tippet, Anthony Bird, Paul Burchill,
Paul Anstey and Paul Hamblin although the opening credits cite all songs
written and produced by Charles Nash and music composed and conducted by
Bob Nash. It, predictably, sounds dated, repetitive, a bit annoying and
a definite product of its time. Quality is about as middling as the
video. While shot in Stockholm with a Swedish cast - it IS in English with no
overly obvious DUBs that I could ascertain. It was Christina Lindberg's first
English-language role. Kino offer optional English (SDH)
subtitles - but no without an error or two - on their Region 'A'-locked
Blu-ray.

Dan Wolman's Maid in Sweden
is from The Canon Group, Inc. It's real problem is the cavalier attitude
in which the sexual assaults are addressed. Inga's introduction to
intimacy beyond her gangbang and lesbian fantasizes - amounts to aggression
from both
males which shouldn't be considered anything less than r*pe, imo. I can't see Maid in Sweden
being much more than having appeal as a historical artifact for
Christina Lindberg fans - as it's the first film in which she showed
nudity - notably her voluminous breasts. Personally, I preferred pretty Monica Ekman
in the role of her sexually-advanced older sister. There is a minor
travelogue in Stockholm snuck in there. There is no real examination of
social issues like class structure in Swedish society ala
I Am Curious (Yellow.) Anyway, it does have nudity (no male parts) and
plenty of early 70's sex. The Kino Lorber / Code Red Blu-ray
