Comments:

NOTE: The below Blu-ray captures were taken directly from the Blu-ray disc.

ADDITION: Kit Parker Films Blu-ray (July 2023): Kit Parker Films produced a three Blu-ray set of "The Three Stooges - Stooge-O-Rama: The Men Behind The Mayhem And Even More Mayhem!". It has over eight hours of content including Paul E. Gierucki's 1994's A+E's Biography episode; Stooges: The Men Behind the Mayhem with archival, and live, footage of Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Curly Howard, Joe Besser, Joe DeRita, Shemp Howard, Paul 'Mousie' Garner, Paul E. Gierucki, Janie Howard Hanky (Curly's Daughter,) Ted Healy, Gary Lassin (Fan Club President), Adam West, Bud Abbott, Jack Duffy, Ben Turpin, Ed Wynn and many others. It offers a with new introduction by Curly Howard’s real-life grandson, Bradley Server. There are extended interview with Lyla Fine Budnick (Larry Fine’s sister), Nate Budnick (Stooges stage show sound man) and a handful more. Plus there is a plethora of other material (see below.)

Some of the video has a caveat: "THE NATIVE RESOLUTION OF THE MAJORITY OF THE CONTENT FEATURED ON THESE DISCS WAS PRODUCED ON 480p STANDARD DEFINITION AND HAS BEEN UPCONVERTED TO 1080p HIGH DEFINITION FOR THIS BLU-RAY RELEASE TO ENSURE THE BEST POSSIBLE QUALITY." and "The material within this presentation was located by private collectors and sourced from obsolete media formats. While all efforts have been made to mitigate age-related deterioration, several items remain incomplete or in less than pristine condition as they represent the only known surviving copy. We hope that any technical limitations are outweighed by the historical interest of these previously unreleased gems."

On their Blu-rays, Kit Parker Films use linear PCM audio (16-bit) and, like the video is a function of the source quality and we can forgive any weaknesses. Kit Parker Films offer no subtitles on their Region FREE Blu-rays.

As well as Stooges: The Men Behind the Mayhem (discussed above,) Kit Parker Films includes Personal Photo Galleries that contain Stooge Memorabilia, a 1929 Fox Movietone News sound newsreel outtakes featuring the earliest known film footage of Moe & Shemp Howard, Stooge Home Movies from the 20's to the 60's with very rare B&W + color snippets of the Stooges at work and play. Surprise, Surprise is the lost theatrical featurette from 1937 with Moe, Larry & Curly, promoting their Pillsbury Projector toy giveaway. Everybody Likes Music is a long unavailable Shemp Howard Van Beuren short from 1934. There is so much including color outtakes from their final film, a 1976 Joe DeRita interview, an Outtake Reel from the 1983 documentary The Funniest Guys in The World with director Mark Gilman’s interview outtakes and workprint featuring Ted Healy’s replacement stooges Paul “Mousie” Garner, Jack Wolf & Dick Hakins, a few archival audio recordings, commercial and promotional spots and more. In a word "stacked".

Firstly, this is not a compilation of The Three Stooges' 190 short slapstick films produced by Columbia Pictures. It's more a complete history of Moe Howard (born Moses Horwitz,) Larry Fine (born Louis Feinberg,) Curly Howard (born Jerome Horwitz), Shemp Howard (born Samuel Horwitz,) Joe Besser, and "Curly Joe" DeRita. It showcases the 1920s vaudeville comedy, their (Ted Healy and His Stooges ) appearance in the Pre-Code comedy Soup to Nuts, "fake Shemp", Jerome "Curly" Howard's debilitating stroke in 1946, discussion of the kiddie-matinee features and so much more. It's an incredibly complete historical examination of the six Stooges through a 70-year history. Kit Parker Films Blu-ray has collated seemingly every single piece of archival documentarian celluloid, archival interviews and memorabilia on The Three Stooges. Fans may be surprised at the detail and extensive rare content. Bottom line about the popular slapstick troupe; "They made us laugh".
