This is referred to as a 'DVD18' which is two sided and dual layered. Side A has Murders in the Rue Morgue / The Black Cat and The Raven. Side B has The Invisible Ray and Black Friday.

Well, the DVD package is a little better than I anticipated. I wasn't expecting too much. It is akin to Universal's DVD release of the Gary Cooper Collection. A bare bones collection of 5 films pragmatically spread over a limited # of dual sided discs (in this case 1 disc), with no extra features for an astonishingly inexpensive total cost. The 5 films look about the same with the two most recent looking the best. Flickering contrast is prevalent to a small degree in all releases. They even look to have gone through the same process - fairly clean of larger flaws with digital noise appearing as fine grain - decent-to-good contrast, 2.0 channel audio and well done optional subtitles.

Personally, Ulmer's The Black Cat was the most anticipated title of the collection for me but watching the rest of the films I got a strong rush of Lugosi-style-mania. These films have generally weak production values and it only adds to their charm. They are as fun as can be. 

I'm sure I could gripe and expect some extensive extras and individual releases with keep cases and even better transfers - but at what cost? These films generally don't warrant a lot of supplement attention and they come out to less than $4 a film. What better $ value is there out there? I'm sold on this manner of packaging some previously unreleased tittles that many crave and we strongly recommend! out of
