( aka "Dieci incredibili giorni" or "Ten Days Wonder")

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/direct-chair/chabrol.htm
France 1972

"One of the great anti-detective films of the 60s and 70s (such as THE SPIDER'S STRATEGEM, BLOW-UP, THE PARALLAX VIEW) in which the traditional, detached, problem-solving power of the detective is removed and he finds himself lost in a labyrinth. The detective here, Paul Regis, is so much the embodiment of reason that he is a professor of philosophy. He observes, analyses, seeks patterns in a bewildering maze - his genius results in the suicidal death of the wrongfully suspected hero."

This is the dirtiest print I've seen so far of the Chabrol Boxset.  Notice dirt on the third large capture below.  Not as soft as Unfaithful Wife, but the colors are duller and overall not a tight image.  It has an English dub, which matches closest to the lip movement (I couldn't figure out if Welles dubbed himself - it just didn't sound like him) as well as French and Spanish dubs.  No subtitles are provided.  English soundtrack is also not the cleanest - it got pops and hiss in some scenes.  There's a trailer, a still gallery (see 3 posters), another dull commentary by 3 people I know nothing about, biographies, some critical quotes about the film and Chabrol's pre-word to the French edition of the book "Ten Days' Wonder".

These discs are getting worse and worse. I will check out Nada next - the third (with Les Biches and Le Boucher) and last Anamorphic transfer in the collection.
