Directed by Bob Bralver
USA 1989

Toni Daniels is an ambitious young journalist working for her college newspaper. Tired of covering the same boring stories as her peers, Toni becomes intrigued by the recent disappearances of several female students and believes that they may be linked to an on-campus murder that happened the previous year during the college's raucous Rush Week. Despite being certain that something terrible has been happening on campus, no one she talks to is willing to admit that the disappearances are cause for concern. Undeterred, Tori decides to investigate the mystery on her own, but before long finds herself becoming embroiled in a twist filled saga of deeply buried, and bloody secrets which attract the attention of a sadistic killer who will stop at nothing to hide the truth...

When Toni Daniels, an ambitious student reporter, goes in search of an exciting story, she discovers the dark secrets of Tambers College. Three beautiful coeds have disappeared, leaving behind some bizarre clues. Are the disappearances somehow related to the fraternity rituals of Rush Week? Are they lined to the tragic death of the dean's daughter? Skeletons pop up from every closet and veiled threats fly as Toni follows the twisting trail of clues that leads to an intense and shocking surprise ending.

NOTE: The below Blu-ray captures were taken directly from the Blu-ray disc.

ADDITION: Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray (April 2021): Vinegar Syndrome gives us the Blu-ray premiere of Bob Bralver's late 80's "Rush Week". The film is located on a dual-layered Blu-ray with a maxed out bitrate. "Rush Week'' has been newly scanned and restored in 2k from its 35mm interpositive. The image is a bit soft and video-like. Colors can look dull-ish / faded and these are all functions of the less-resilient 80's film-stock that was used at that time. There is some noise-like texture and no depth. Vinegar Syndrome have done the best that they can for the film, but it is neither crisp nor tight - a result of the source condition - not the 1080P transfer.

"Rush Week" is presented in 24-bit DTS-HD Master audio track (2.0 stereo). The film maintains a decent balance between atmospheric sounds and dialogue, all with a creepy score from Joel and Murielle Hamilton lurking in the background. Many musicians of the 80's appear on the film's soundtrack, such as Devo, The Dead Milkmen, The Dickies, The Addis Band, and Ginger. There are optional English SDH subtitles on this Region 'A'
Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome.

Vinegar Syndrome include a commentary track with 'The Hysteria Continues!' team from the slasher-loving podcast. Many topics are discussed, such as the group's first experiences with the film in the 80's and 90's, the contextual slasher movie canon, the production of the film, cast, etc. Surely this commentary will be of interest to fans of "Rush Week'' though others may wish to skip it. “Still Dean Hamilton” is a 13-minute interview with the male lead of the film. Hamilton talks of segwaying into the film business from film from TV and soap operas, as well as some work in Canada (Hamilton is a fellow Canuck). He shares some fond memories of the filming. “So 80s”, much like the Hamilton interview is a 13-minute piece with actress Courtney Gebhart ('Jonelle'). Gebhart describes the filming of the movie as 'a blast' and her energetic recollections are worth watching. The
Blu-ray also features reversible cover artwork.

While "Rush Week'' certainly delivers in some departments (T&A being one of them), I found the bulk of the college slasher picture to be a little sophomoric. Vinegar Syndrome provides their typical adept transfer, and there are some in-depth extras on this worldwide
Blu-ray premiere. And yes that is rock star Greg Allman making a brief cameo appearance. Recommended only for slasher/college movie fans.
