Directed by Lucio Fulci
Italy |
Spain | Mexico 1983
From a place beyond time, a cruel and evil shadow has fallen over the peaceful land of Cronos. The demon sorceress Ocron controls Cronos’ sun which threatens the lives of all the people. The only hope for the people lies with two warriors who are willing to enter Ocron’s dark domain to destroy her. Journey to a world of sorcery, ancient legends and dashing heroes. A place beyond imagination where good and evil are pitted in the ultimate battle. The master of horror, Lucio Fulci (City of The Living Dead, Zombie) brings his trademark gore to this sword and sorcery epic with music by Goblin’s Claudio Simonetti (Deep Red, Suspiria) and starring Mexican screen legend Jorge Rivero (Rio Lobo, Target Eagle, Fist Fighter, Counterforce, Last Hard Men). For the first time in HD, see the uncut, gory version of Conquest. *** A young man, armed with a magical bow and arrows, embarks on a mystical journey through a mystical land to rid it of all evil and joins forces with an outlaw to take down an evil witch bent on claiming the magic bow for evil. |

NOTE:
The below
Blu-ray
captures were taken directly from the
Blu-ray
disc.
On their
Blu-ray,
Code Red use a DTS-HD Master dual-mono track (24-bit) in the
English language with plenty of unintelligible middle-earth-like
dialects, grunts, screams and chanting. It's a notch above the video -
but not much. We have a score by Goblin's Claudio Simonetti, who was responsible for many classic
Italian
Giallo scores (Nightmare
Beach,
Argento's
Dracula,
Tenebre,
Opera,
Deep Red ,
Suspiria etc.) and it has some unusual electronic vibes
surfacing. Code Red offer no
subtitles on their Region 'A'
Blu-ray.
The Code Red
Blu-ray
Lucio Fulci's Conquest has an
assault scene that coincides with a nasty dismemberment and a couple of
removed heads being carried around. There is nudity - mostly the
gold-masked gal with the snake. My opinion did improve in the second
half where the story came together a bit more cohesively and you could
see hints of the director's adeptness. I'd say that this Code Red Blu-ray
