(aka "Hate" or "Killer-Truck")
Directed by Dominique Goult
France 1980
We dont know who he is, or where he comes from. Dressed in a white combination, he wanders the country roads on his bike. Fate leads it to a deep French village freshly marked by the death of a child, broken by a two-wheel. Very quickly, the stranger feels indifference, then contempt and soon the hatred of these villagers confined to their prejudices. Only Madeleine, single mother, agrees to come to help her. But all the men of the village, to the mayor, have found abroad their scapegoat. *** Hate (Haine) is a reflection on intolerance, xenophobia and unchecked revenge, starring Klaus Kinski. By his side, we find the familiar faces of the French cinema of the 1970/80s, among which Maria Schneider (The Last Tango in Paris), Evelyne Bouix and Katia Tchenko. Atypical work, allegorical, HAINE is presented as a world premiere in a fully restored version, on DVD and Blu-Ray. |

Haine
is intense. I liked the visual story-telling and small village
atmosphere. There are some redeeming features although not a ton of them
- I do appreciate how the story was realized. Le Chat qui Fume Blu-ray
