Directed by Jim Jarmusch
USA /
Sweden 2019
It's the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled starring Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat and Tom Waits. In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behavior. No one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing the town: The Dead Don't Die – they rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living – and the citizens must battle for their survival. *** Unusual occurrences begin to unfold in the small and uneventful town of Centerville, from animals behaving oddly to irregular periods of daylight. However, the most unexpected event proves to be the most serious as corpses begin to leave their graves to attack the townspeople. The town's fight for survival is helmed by a cast of recognizable faces in filmmaker Jim Jarmusch's genre-bending horror comedy film. Excerpt from B+N located HERE |

NOTE:
The below
Blu-ray
captures were taken directly from the
Blu-ray
disc.
On their
Blu-ray,
Universal use a very robust DTS-HD Master 5.1 surround track (24-bit) in
the original English language. It seems to have a life of its own
sometimes - deadly silent with creeping 'zombified' muffled sighs
surfacing. There are some separations and impressive depth in the
aggressive sequences. This sounds as perfect as the image. There is a
French and Spanish languages DUB and a Descriptive audio track for the
visually impaired. Universal offer optional English (SDH), French and
Spanish subtitles on
their Region FREE
Blu-ray.
Well, in spite of the critics fickle
responses - I
loved The Dead Don't Die and its constant film references - and
George Romero homage. Jarmusch assembled a great cast - the whole movie
is essentially deadpan... and it's hilarious. I'd watch Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi and Danny Glover in
anything together. I can't wait to watch this again. This Universal Blu-ray
gives perfect a/v but a shade short on the extras. Still kinda of a must
own, crossing over for both Jarmusch's loyal following and vintage
zombie flic fans.
