Sweden/Sri Lanka 2014
The heist of
an armored car at the Landvetter Airport
resulted in the loss of four million Euros,
which have not been recovered even though
the police know the identities of the five
robbers. At least four of the robbers have
no idea where the money has been stashed,
believing that leader Tommy has made off
with the money to Sri Lanka. When Tommy's
girlfriend Estelle (Moa Gammel, LAPLAND
ODYSSEY) returns to Lapland with their
daughter Isabel (Inez Buckner) a year later,
she is stopped by the police (AS IT IS IN
HEAVEN's Ingela Olsson and EASY
MONEY's Alexander Stocks) for
questioning and they confiscate an urn of
ashes for DNA testing to find out of it is
the remains of Tommy. When she discovers
that co-conspirator Rikard - who was
supposed to transfer Tommy's share to her -
has been murdered, Estelle rushes to the
hiding place of the money only to discover
it empty. Suspecting accomplice Bobby (Ola
Rapace,
I AM YOURS) of hoarding the money
since he has been living it up in Tommy's
absence, she leaves her daughter with her
sister Blanca (singer Lykke Li) and struts
right into the lion's dean threatening
Tommy's return if he does not come up with
the one million Euro share. Bobby is
extremely rattled while Rikard's brother
Matte (Alexej Manvelov) is skeptical. When
the police warn Estelle that the papers will
be publishing news of Tommy's death, she
spins the story to Tommy's former contacts
and sets about turning the other members of
the gang against each other and turning the
city into a war zone. Tommy may very well
not be dead, but can the threat of his
presence behind the scenes save Estelle from
betrayal by one of the few she thought she
could trust? |

Comments |
Arrow Films' single-layer, anamorphic transfer of this 35mm-lensed feature exhibits minor edge-enhancement and looks a little flat in some shots but reproduces the chilly look of the film nicely in SD. Although there is no set-up menu, audio options include the film's original 5.1 mix as well as a 2.0 stereo downmix track. The English subtitles are optional and free of errors. The only extras are start-up trailers for other Nordic Noir titles. The Svensk Filmindustri Blu-ray and DVD releases do not seem to be English-friendly and the extra content (if any) is not currently known. |
