Stanley Kubrick fans will adore the masterful
composition of "Killer's Kiss" - an inexpensive
Film-Noir gem made for a night out at the
Drive-in theatre. Davy Gordon (Jamie Smith) is a boxer who is past his prime.
His sexy neighbor Gloria Price (Irene Kane) is a for-hire-by-lonely-men dancer
(how 'Noir' can you get?). After a recent tough loss in the ring, Davy decides
to move to his uncle's farm in Seattle, and put his hand to horses.
Voyeuristically peering through his apartment window he spies Gloria in a bind.
Stepping in is imperative and it becomes the story of the film. NOTE: Unable to record the film's dialogue on-set due to technical problems, Kubrick was forced to post-sync all of this film's dialogue and sound effects. Veteran soundman Nathan Boxer was initially hired to record sound. However, after his boom microphone and pole created many unwanted shadows, the inexperienced Kubrick had to fire him and his sound crew. Irene Kane was then unavailable to add her dialogue later, so the voice of another actress was used. |

This DVD has a very acceptable
image - it is sharp with decent contrast - good black levels. It is
another in the line of cheapy-no-extras- MGM DVDs, but perhaps sparkling
a bit more in the image department.
It is rather short and could have easily had some
decent extras with only 3.81 of the 4.7 GIG filled. The audio sync
problem is a factor of the film, but rarely infringes upon your viewing
experience. It is great to have this on DVD and the price sure is
right.
