NOTE: The below Blu-ray captures were taken directly from the Blu-ray disc.

ADDITION: 88 Films - Region 'B' Blu-ray - April 201888 Films bring us "Adult Fairy Tales" on a single-layered Blu-ray disc. The film runs at a reasonable bit-rate and looks better than the DVD edition. There is an obvious upgrade in detail (see caps.)

The audio is presented in uncompressed linear PCM at 1536 kbps (16-bit). This is not a noticeable difference from the DVD but it sounds fine. There are optional English subtitles on the Region 'B' Blu-ray disc.

88 Films provide us with the film's trailer (1:30) as an extra, as well as the commentary. Both features are carried over from the 88 Films DVD.

88 Films upgrade the image here but offer little else. Fans that on the film on DVD would be wise to upgrade to the Blu-ray for the improved picture quality. If that is not so much of an issue for you, I would hold off as there are no new extras here.

***

ON THE DVD: 88 Films releases this sex-comedy on DVD and it appears to be available on Blu-ray - or, at least, is listed so.  There is a 'Director's Cut' of Fairy Tales that is about 4-minutes longer than the theatrical. The film is standard fare but they actually add in some modest musical numbers with the gratuitous nudity and innuendo. 'Hairy' gals and hammy acting. It has some moderate cuteness and the nostalgia factor is in play.

Anamorphic in the, very, widescreen 2.55:1. It's progressive and looks okay with decent colors and detail in close-ups. Acceptable for the SD format - single-layered with a modest bitrate.

Lossy Dolby and a light score by Andrew Belling with numbers like "Been a Virgin Too Long", "Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar" and "You'll Feel the Magic in Me". Clear and unremarkable. There are optional English subtitles (see sample below) on the region 2 PAL disc.

There is value in the audio commentary by writer Frank Ray Perilli and producer Charles Band who laugh and have a good time joking that the credits are like an obituary listing as most of the cast/crew have passed on. There is also a trailer.

The film doesn't have much merit, only if you carry some fond memories of this era's boundary-pushing with naked gals, mostly simulated sexual activity and some bad puns. Not something I can recommend even being a minor fan of Miss Linnea Quigley.
