USA 2015
University of Akron freshmen biomedical science major Benny Cruz (Matthew Frias, WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL) experiences love at first sight with Florida-transplant jock Christopher (Edmund Donovan, THE INHABITANTS), and the feeling is mutual. Both out of the closet with the loving support of their parents, Benny and Christopher are unafraid of getting quite serious with each other. Their relationship is tested, however, when they take a spring break road trip down to Florida to see Christopher's mother Carol (Amy da Luz, MAIN STREET) and she unburdens herself of a tragic fifteen-year-old secret that unites herself, her son, Benny, and his parents Lenora (Andrea Burns, JESSICA JONES) and David (Joseph Melendez, FAST FIVE). Unable to stay apart from one another, Christopher and Benny defiantly continue their relationship while their parents try to figure out if their children's happiness is more important than lingering guilt, pain, and loss. A touching drama with good lead performances and sympathetic depictions of fallible adult characters. |

Comments |
Wolfe has afforded this medium-length film a strong high bitrate dual-layer progressive anamorphic encode. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track makes conservative use of the surrounds (the 2.0 downmix is serviceable). While Wolfe's foreign titles usually have burnt-in subtitles and their English-language ones usually have closed captions, their DVD of AKRON has an optional English SDH subtitle track. Extras include a cast and crew featurette and a short interview with one of the directors. |
