WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Hello friends! In the current environment it is getting more and more difficult for us to maintain the website. Our income has severely been diminished by the increasing number of DVD/Blu-ray producers selling discs from their own sites. At present they don't offer us affiliate commissions which are our major source of income (Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc.). To continue producing comparisons, reviews and articles, we regretfully request YOUR assistance in the form of small monthly donations. We have started a Patreon page with the hopes that some of our followers would be willing to donate to keep DVDBeaver alive. We are a small niche, so your generosity is vital to our existence.

To those that are unfamiliar, Patreon is a secure/verified third-party service where users can agree to a monthly donation via credit card or PayPal by clicking the button below.

"Clouzot: Early Works"

Before directing his first feature, Henri-Georges Clouzot (The Wages of Fear, Diabolique) spent ten years learning the ropes. During this prolific period as a screenwriter he learned cinematic grammar and began to forge his style. To better know and understand Henri-Georges Clouzot, you have to discover these rare films, of which he was one of the principal architects. Kino Classics is proud to present CLOUZOT: THE EARLY WORKS, which collects six varied features he worked on from 1931-1933: frothy comedies, boxing dramas, musicals and melodramas. The set includes his directorial debut – the short film The Terror of Batignolles (1931), which anticipates his canonical thrillers to come.

ADDITION: Kino - Region 'A' - Blu-ray (November 2018):  Kino Classics presents "Clouzot - The Early Works" on two dual-layered Blu-ray discs. This collection of films from the early 1930's see Henri-Georges Clouzot's early efforts in screenwriting and even his directorial debut, with 1931's short "The Terror of Batignolles". The image quality varies from film to film, with the expected wear and tear for films of this age. The films carry a modest bitrate throughout their runtimes. The aspect ratios differ slightly; "Dragnet Night" - 1.18:1, "I'll Be Alone After Midnight" - 1.37:1, "The Unknown Singer" - 1.22:1, "The Terror of Batignolles" - 1.33:1, "My Cousin From Warsaw" - 1.37:1, "Tell Me Tonight" - 1.17:1, "Dream Castle" - 1.31:1.

The features here are presented with 24-bit DTS-HD 2.0 stereo French Master Audio tracks. There are optional English subtitles on these Region-A
Blu-rays.

The sole extra is a 16-page booklet featuring an essay by Peter Tonguette, "The Apprenticeship of Henri-Georges Clouzot".

Collected here are six features that Clouzot worked on from 1931-1933 as a screenwriter honing his craft. The pictures fall into different genres, and it isn't really until his directorial debut short where we see the thriller plot-structure that we would eventually associate with the director/screenwriter. Kino's
Blu-ray set should absolutely intrigue Clouzot fans, and film historians.
