Perry Mason Movie Collection Double Feature 1

Perry Mason Returns (1985)      Perry Mason: The Case of the Notorious Nun (1986)

In "Perry Mason Returns", Mason's beloved former secretary, Della Street, is accused of murdering her multi-millionaire employer, Arthur Gordon, who has recently told his family they are disinherited. Mason resigns his position as appellate court judge to defend her. And Della, in the process, returns to work for Mason. In "The Case of the Notorious Nun", Perry defends a young novitiate accused of murdering a young priest with whom she had grown (platonically!) close.

Comments:

Perry Mason fans can't get enough and it's nice to have these new Movie Collection Double Features DVDs available. We starts with set 1 that has Perry Mason Returns and The Case of the Notorious Nun from the mid 80's TV - sharing one dual-layered DVD disc.

Unfortunately, the transfers are interlaced with a modest appearance - looking very flat but certainly watchable. The audio is clean and sports optional English subtitles. There are no extras.

The DVD inferiorities don't take away from the value for Perry Mason lovers. We get three hours of entertainment marking the return of the classic show to movie-length format. Both 'movies' are decent 'Perry' crime and courtroom dramas. The formula remains mostly the same but the score is slightly different, we get a grey-bearded Perry, Della is still there but Paul Drake's son replaces his father. I enjoyed my viewing. Less than $15 - recommended!
