When Drengen (Frederik Christian Johansen, A ROYAL AFFAIR) - a young man who murdered an elderly Swedish couple two years prior - tells her it is God's plan that he kill himself, psychiatrist Lisbeth (Signe Egholm Olsen, BROTHERHOOD) approaches priest Helen (Sofie Gråbøl, TV's THE KILLING) to speak to him before he makes another attempt. Helen arrives at the institution - under the guise of a colleague - just as Lisbeth has learned that the university is terminating her experiment of using animals to help map the social skills of the most violent inmates after the fallout from Drengen's suicide attempt (which was preceded by his murder of the fellow inmate who killed his cat Valde). While Lisbeth is curious about the circumstances of the murder Drengen committed two years before, Helen starts to believe that the cat (who he believed was a messenger of God) and Drengen's past are the key to helping him. Lisbeth explains that the stodgy university and institution staff have simply lost faith in her approach, but Helen discovers from Drengen as well as seemingly hardened guard Knud (Søren Malling, ACCUSED) that Lisbeth is holding back crucial parts of the story that might implicate her as at best incompetent and at worst unethical.
