directed by Jay Bulger
US 2012
"A
legendary, era-defining drummer who played with Cream, Blind
Faith, Fela Kuti and many other groups, the mad, bad Ginger
Baker is as well known for his debauched offstage antics as heis
for his ground-breaking musicianship. "Following in the tradition of music documentaries like Searching for Sugar Man, Jay Bulger's award-winning and frequently hilarious portrait of a troubled genius is an insightful, detailed and boldy original film, featuring contributions from Carlos Santana, Stewart Copeland and Lars Ulrich, as well as Baker's band members Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce." |

Comments |
Curzon Film World delivers a good-looking single-layer anamorphic transfer of this HD-lensed documentary considering the mix of crisp-looking contemporary talking-head interviews, digitized film and archival video. Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 stereo feature separation primarily in the music and some added sound effects during the montages and animation. The film's trailer is the only extra, although online specs suggest the Region 1 edition HERE is also unsupported by extras. |
