Teenager Ar (Luxia Jiang, TRUE LEGEND) prowls the streets at night to rid her town of blood-drinking vampires, although she is on friendly terms with "vegetarian vampires", particularly Max (Chrissie Chau Sau-Na, CITY UNDER SIEGE) and her family (headed by less-than-dependable Lung [Siu-hou Chin, MR. VAMPIRE]). When blood-drinking vampire Mung (Wah Yuen, SUPERCOP) breezes into town eating weaker vampires to steal their lifeforces, Ar has a extra incentive to ally with the vegetarian vampires against him when she discovers that her missing sister Sue (Pinky Cheung, FIRE OF CONSCIENCE) is under his power. Despite the crass UK retitling LESBIAN VAMPIRE WARRIORS, VAMPIRE WARRIORS is actually pretty light fare. The relationship between Ar and Max is chaste, embodying the curiosity of two virgins (Ar has never had a boyfriend and Max has yet to lose her "virginity" by drinking human blood). The visual and make-up effects are nothing new (the usual wirework and BUFFY-esque clouds of dust when the vampires are staked), but they are proficient. It might entertain younger audiences, but more seasoned genre veterans will just be reminded that more imaginative vampire films will probably continue to get short shrift by bigger studios in favor of TWILIGHT-y fluff.
