On the heels of The George Sanders Saint Movies Collection (), Warner Archive Collection released another RKO series starring the great George Sanders. The 3-disc set presents all 4 films with George Sanders plus 3 additional films where his real-life brother Tom Conway takes the reigns of the series. Just like the transfers for the Saint films, they are not restored with many instances of marks and scratches, especially during the first film, The Gay Falcon, but overall progressive transfers are good quality. The seven films are split on three discs, two dual-layered discs feature the first six films, 3 on each and the seventh film is on the third single-layered disc. There are no extras on the discs, but each film features generous number of chapters, especially compared to the Saint set, from 22 to 34 chapters for each film. A highly recommended release for this underrated series. We are looking forward for the Volume 2 of the Falcon series films with the rest of Tom Conway films. Unfortunately, Film Classics took over the series in 1948 and released three films starring John Calvert, which are likely not owned by Warner Home Video. |
