This is from the Janus Collection - and I have no reason to believe that my screener will not be the same as sold to the general public. This was released by Eureka in 2008 but it was 9-minutes shorter than this - the full length version. I believe that was, like this, also a single-layered, bare bones transfer. The image quality looks a little inconsistent - decent most of the time but there are artefacts noticeable in people's faces and backgrounds. Generally speaking it produces an acceptable, but by no means stellar, presentation. The 2.0 channel audio is likewise serviceable but Predictably flat. There are no subtitles, nor extras on this region 0 - PAL disc. It may be a stretch to call it a noir but it's a darn good mystery thriller and Jean Simmons is a typically hypnotic female. I'm really glad to have it on DVD - even a lackluster one such as this. |
