Eureka [Montage Pictures] bring the black comedy film Under the Tree to Blu-ray. It's on a dual-layered Blu-ray in 1080P with a supportive bitrate. It can look 'dim' but is consistent and without another disc to compare to we can see it possible being accurate to the production. It is in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and looks very clean in-motion with pleasing detail and plenty of depth. Under the Tree is a nicely shot film by Monika Lenczewska with some unusual overhead shots, limited close-ups and interesting use of the widescreen frame.

The film is presented in a DTS-HD Master 5.1 surround track (16-bit) in the original Icelandic language. There are a handful of separations. The film features a light score by Daníel Bjarnason. The audio quality is decent and dialogue is clear and audible. There are optional English subtitles on this Region 'B' Blu-ray.

Eureka [Montage Pictures] add a 23-minute 'Making of...' with behind the scenes footage and input from the filmmakers. There is also a trailer. This is dual-format and includes a second disc DVD.

This film centers on the foibles of miscommunication and misinterpretation followed by increasingly violent knee-jerk reactions by the volatile characters. I won't spoil the ending but it is both funny and over-the-top dramatic. I think Under the Tree will be very memorable. The Blu-ray package provides the opportunity to see this highly amusing, often satirical, film in 1080P. I don't recall another Icelandic film I have seen and world cinema devotees should be curious. It is both unique and entertaining.
