The sun is getting hotter every year.... Because of the green-house effect we are starting to use parasols again, so in the end of this century we uses them as they did in the end of the last.... One of the most underrated and misunderstood films I remember. Many critics has seen this film -as they where eating Hamburgers- only as a passionate love story, totally ignoring what it is about and how doe's the film affect you. This is one among the best British films ever made. The film is a melancholy study about the life in early 90s. Pollution, AIDS, corruption and greenhouse effect are the present state of the world. As a metaphor for that , there is a forbidden love story between a brother and a sister, a last escape before everything vanish. But everything looks normal if I CLOSE MY EYES.  out

PICTURE:
The DVD we get is a plain disc with no extras (except a trailer), but I'm very happy that this film is finally on DVD. The transfer looks quite acceptable seen on a projector or a TV set. The image is sharp enough, and the ratio seems to be almost correct. With a closer look of the image there is noticeable fault. The NTSC (29.97 f/s) goes like: 7-8 pictures are sharp, and then 2-3 pictures are soft, with blurred contours, and then again, 7-8 pictures are sharp and 2-3 pictures soft... this continue during the whole movie, and you get a feeling of that the picture is waving all the time. (See picture below). But this don't disturb much during the screening. This doesn't seem to be converted from PAL to NTSC, because of the running-time. The disc can be bought, because I don't think we get a better one. if they don't suddenly in the UK start to take care of there own precious directors. 
out of SOUND: The haunting music by Michael Gibbs sounds great, as well the surround sound track. For some reason, the dialog track feels a little bit to narrow.  out
