When Theodore Cleaver (Jerry Mathers) was born, his brother, Wally (Tony Dow) couldn't pronounce his new sibling's name and it came out as "Theever" which sounded a lot like "Beaver" to his parent, June (Barbara Billingsley) and Ward (Hugh Beaumont). Hence the concept behind the title of one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history. Running 6 successful years with unforgettable characters like Wally's mischievous buddy Eddie Haskell (Ken Osmond) - "That's a very nice dress you are wearing today Mrs. Cleaver', perfect homemaker June's pearl necklace's, Ward's sage advice and Beaver's knack for always getting into trouble. Some of my fondest memories growing up were watching this show (in syndication) over lunch and being amused at the poignant humor and subtle family gestures of love. A website named DVDBeaver would have to have a review of a show called 'Leaver it to Beaver' - more than simply a 'feel-good' sitcom but one of the more special shows in the history of television .

NOTE: There are three double sided discs with most having 7 episodes on each side for a total of 39 episodes.

The quality looks fabulous. Either the originals were in solid condition or, as they claim, 'a remastering' process that helped improve the image has taken place. It is probably a combination of the two. This is sharper than I can ever remember seeing on TV... and the good news is that these are the complete 26 minute episodes not the condensed syndicated ones at 23.5 minutes. Bravo Universal. I can't get over how good the contrast is and I even think I see some film grain. It looks far better than I anticipated. Audio is likewise clean and consistent. No extras excepting the original pilot episode with different actors portraying Wally and Ward. I'm very happy that this has been produced to DVD in such a sterling image. One of my favorite TV shows - now available on DVD!
