(aka "Who Killed Bambi?" )
directed
by Gilles Marchand
France 2003
Gilles Marchand, who also wrote “With a Friend Like Harry”,
tells a charming Hitchcockian cat and mouse thriller about nurse trainee
Isabelle (nicknamed Bambi) who believes that the good doctor is doing
something bad. It works on surprisingly many levels, as the notion of Bambi can be seen as a coming-of-age story, a loss of innocence tale, or just Isabelle being very naive. But regardless on how one interpret the title versus the story, it will always be a great little thriller. |

Comments | Not the
best transfer. At times visible edge enhancements, color bleeds,
especially skin vs. blue, and details are not as sharp as one would expect. The sound is great. While I couldn't detect any real differences between the 5.1 Dolby Digital and the DTS track, both really give a very "sterile" hospital atmosphere, which adds to the creepy atmosphere of the film. |
