Saburo (Akira Nitta) is a young man whose quest for revenge against the murder of his parents consumes his life. Set in post-WWII Japan, Saburo must track down Otake (Rentaro Mikuni), the Military Police officer who brutally killed his parents and then nearly beat him to death because of suspicions that his father was an anarchist. When he finds the object of his obsession on a small Pacific island, he falls in love with the man’s daughter. Despite this, he eventually exacts his revenge, which frees him from the haunting memories of the events which began this obsession...

Comments Excellent release, well balanced chroma, nice black rendition, occasional soft details more likely due to grainy film stock, sporadic artifacts. Anamorphic, tight and progressive. Original audio up to par, subtitles are an excellent font and appear to be well translated. Very fine encoding done by Toho.
