”Football factory” is to hooliganism what ”Trainspotting” was to heroin addiction. Nick Love tells the story of a group of hooligans, who basically only have one interest: To kick the shit out of “a fucking cunt”.

Told in “Trainspotting” style, the film is sadly ordinary. While the film is extremely violent and Love portraits his characters beautifully, something is missing. It simple doesn’t have any real emotionally impact, only a glamorisation of violence, offering no context.

What could have been a contemporary look at hooliganism, at what social and personal reasons is behind this senseless violence, ends as a weak imitation of “Trainspotting”.

Comments The image is simple stunning. Deep blacks, clear details in night sequences, no visible compression artifacts.

The Danish DVD comes with an additional DTS track, where the UK DVD only has the 5.1 Dolby Digital. Both tracks are very aggressive, using all channels to the max. In crowd sequences, the rears really put one in the middle of the fight. The DTS is slightly better than the 5.1 Dolby Digital.

As additional material, we have a very entertaining "Making of" documentary, 8 deleted scenes and an alternative opening, which on the UK DVD are combined to 9 deleted scenes.

What sadly is missing from the Danish DVD is the commentary track by Nick Love and actor Danny Dyer. That, and Love's short film "Love Story".
