NOTE:
The 2009 Criterion edition of Hobson's Choice is
reviewed/compared
HERE. It's Warner that distributes this DVD, but Studio Canal that appears to own the films.
On the image, Hobson's Choice is a shade
superior to
The Sound Barrier
(also included in this package - see below), with less damage. I have
seen a lot softer and it does show some film grain, so it is not too bad
at all. Unfortunately there are no extras or subtitles. Very bare bones
release, but nice to have a couple of David Lean films that I had never
seen before.

The Sound Barrier has a bit more
(not serious) damage and the non-studio flight scenes (not many) are in
very bad shape, A guess could be that David Lean used some old stock
footage and the movie always has looked that way? but I don't know.
Again no extras or subs, but the film is not in unbearable
condition.
