I LOVE Zatoichi films and this is one of my favorites (along with # 8). It has generous amounts of comedy, tightly choreographed action sequences and an explanation of the mystique of Zatoichi's sword. Great to see our hero defend himself with just a bamboo cane and in another scene against a knife attack with his pipe. A good portion of my enjoyment of these films is the wonderful widescreen ratio. I can't correctly state my appeal, but Zatoichi is one of the most enduring and "cool" characters in the history of cinema with this being, debatably, his best adventure. out of

Comments:

Great work by Home Vision - they maintain the ratio, keep the original audio, have removable non-intrusive white subtitles, even a poster included... my only complaint is the image does appear soft at times, but the colors are beautiful with accurate skin tones and solid contrast. I am totally indebted to Home Vision for bringing these out on DVD with such excellent quality. Bravo ! out of      .
