(aka "Kanto mushuku" or "Kanto Wanderer" or "The Woman Sharper ")
Gamblers and card sharps, prostitution, and
yakuza-style vengeance are mainstays in most films by master director Seijun
Suzuki, and Kanto Wanderer is no exception. Boss Izu’s bodyguard, Mr. Katsuta,
is at the center of a violent power play by Boss Yoshida to take over Izu’s
interests. As he tries to maintain stability, Mr. Katsuta is thrown off guard
when he encounters a dangerous woman from his past. |

Great colors on
this Suzuki film DVD from Home Vision. This has their usual quality -
great removable subtitles- true aspect ratio (wonderful 2.35) - and
slight on Extras. I can only assume if this did have some substantial
Extra Features that all 3 recent Suzuki films would be worthy of dawning
the Criterion label. I just LOVE having these campy, stylistic films in
my collection. No one else would do them with this quality. 'You the
MAN!" Home Vision!
