Spain 2000
"Cesc Gay has captured the spirit of
youth, puberty, sexual innocence and experimentation in Nico and Dani, a
film dealing primarily with the inescapable lack of choice anyone has around
sexual preference. Two closely bonded friends find a riff in their perspective
sexual longings. One seeks females, the other seeks him. Subtly portrayed in an
honest heartfelt fashion, this is a modern and wholesome look at homosexuality
and growing up that I have not seen on the screen yet. I highly applaud this
story ( taken from a play ) that frankly deals with, until recently, a taboo
subject: Youths and sex."

Great disc from New
Yorker!... Solid anamorphic image, accurate colors, deep blacks and full
of extras. Film-sourced, there does not appears to be any color/contrast
adjustment, no strobbing whites and no edge enhancement. Super film and
super DVD!. |
