VIDEO Both are presented in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio .. but are varying quality too. R1 has strongly contrasting colors when the R2's paleness is faithful to the original theatrical picture. The two editions are quite sharp ( see the screen in the third capture and the striped pillow in the next one). R1 picture is slightly cropped on the left. AUDIO It's a shame the R2 2-disc edition has only a DS 2.0 English track... and French forced subtitles on it. EXTRAS No need to argue. There is nothing on the Canadian disc. On the French one, actor's interviews are in English (with French subs), except for director's one which is in French and no subs. OVERALL The Canadian disc presents the US theatrical release with about 10 minutes less (see imdb page) than the real director's cut available on the Region 2. I suppose the US R1 has the same version. About the stereo English track, UFG released an other edition (one year after this one) which offers, on one single disc in a digi-pack case, new English DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks but no extras. |
