Although the subtitles are
forced, I managed to disable them on my Pioneer DV-454 by selecting
"Subtitle Display: OFF" in the player's setup menu. The English dubs on both DVDs are different. Here's a sample of dialogue accompanying the scene of the first screenshot. US DVD Hercules: "I will start where your lips have touched." Iole: "Why how dare you be so audacious!" Hercules: "I'm too hungry to help it." French DVD Hercules: "I'll begin where your lips ended." Iole: "I can't decide whether you're sincere or just bold!" Hercules: "Not bold, only hungry." U.S. disc - U.S. disc has no chapters, no menus - the worst possible disc of this title and I got it. You can't get worse than this... Link points to DVD Empire - the only place where I could find this atrocity. The bitrate only shows the first layer - the second layer of 13 minutes, 20 seconds has the bitrate of 4.50 |
