ONE VOICE (not Ellsworth Monkton Toohey): The Bond 50: Collection is really overpowering in its content with 22 films and something like 120 hours of bonus material - plus it's only about $6.75 a Blu-ray. Hard not to recommend even if you own a few of the discs already. But after that Criterion's In the Mood For Love in 1080P makes the addictive film a must-own on Blu-ray. Masters of Cinema's The Testament of Dr. Mabuse - a historically important Fritz Lang entry is deserved of any cinephile's Blu-ray library. Luis Buñuel’s final film That Obscure Object of Desire goes 1080P - looking film-like and the package has some bone-fide supplements that fans of the director will surely relish. Flicker Alley has put together a wonderful Blu-ray of This is Cinerama - a documentary with mesmerizing SmileBox samples that will impress all in the Home Theater. Lady Snowblood (parts 1+2) is prime Samurai genre fodder and it's a pleasure to see the film in HD courtesy of Arrow Films. Tinto Brass stirs fetishistic instincts in Cheeky - an apt title name for the directors entire soft-core oeuvre. Au Pair Girls is cute but not cute enough that we could recommend in the new format. Eric has done an important DVD comparison of Pedro Costa's second feature Casa de Lava with Second Run's new transfer easily coming out on top. Also compared are the impressive film London River. the Iranian effort It's Winter and some sci-fi schlock called The Day Time Ended. I'm keen to see Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death - 80's Grindhouse with babes and what a great title! Sounds fun! Have a Adrienne Barbeau-filled week!!

	Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection BD - All the Bonds. All the girls. All the action. All in high-definition. Blu-ray Release Date: September 25th, 2012 Lady Snowblood (parts 1+2) BD - From the original manga by Kasuo Koike (Lone Wolf and Cub) and the main inspiration for Quentin Tarantino s *Kill Bill, Lady Snowblood* is a blood spattered Samurai masterpiece from the golden age of Japanese cult cinema! Kidnapped and abused by samurai a woman who finds herself in jail plots revenge by getting pregnant to raise an instrument of death! The child, Yuki, is raised with the single purpose of cutting down the four beasts that brutalised her mother, dismembering every down, dirty lowlife that stands in her way. Blu-ray Release Date: September 24th, 2012 This is Cinerama BD - In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of its premiere, Flicker Alley is proud to present THIS IS CINERAMA (Academy Award Winner), exactly as seen by over 20,000,000 viewers in its original roadshow version. Travel around the world with Cinerama, from Venice to Madrid, from Edinburgh Castle to the La Scala opera house in Milan, and concluding with a flight across America in the nose of a B-25 bomber. Experience this cinema classic once again in this unique "Smilebox" curved screen simulation! Blu-ray Release Date: September 25th, 2012* Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death - To avoid a serious avocado shortage, the U.S. government hires feminist anthropology professor Margo Hunt (Shannon Tweed) to find the man-eating Piranha Women tribe who inhabit the avocado jungle of Southern California. Assisted by chauvinist Jim (Bill Maher) and a dim-witted student named Bunny, Hunt must convince the tribe to move to Malibu condos while simultaneously fending off her rival Dr. Kurtz (Adrienne Barbeau). Meanwhile, Bunny's contemplating joining the Piranha gals -- but she must consume Jim first. DVD Release Date: September 17th, 2012 That Obscure Object of Desire BD - Luis Buñuel’s final film explodes with eroticism, bringing full circle the director’s lifelong preoccupation with the darker side of desire. Buñuel regular Fernando Rey plays Mathieu, an urbane widower, tortured by his lust for the elusive Conchita. With subversive flare, Buñuel uses two different actresses in the lead—Carole Bouquet, a sophisticated French beauty, and Angela Molina, a Spanish coquette. Drawn from Pierre Louÿs’s 1898 novel, La Femme et le Pantin, That Obscure Object of Desire is a dizzying game of sexual politics punctuated by a terror that harkens back to Buñuel’s brilliant surrealistic beginnings. Blu-ray Release date: September 10th, 2012 Cheeky BD - More of the same Tinto Brass soft-porn, but slightly more polished than "*Frivolous Lola". There is more nudity and the young ladies are even prettier. Lots of close-ups of body parts, plenty of 'up-skirt' and suggestive scenarios. Two positives - this is not disguising itself as anything more than it is... and the candor is refreshing. Secondly Brass seems to be improving as a director. In this one, extensively long-legged, young Carla (Yuliya Mayarchuk) has just moved to London. Parading herself around town we immediately see, not only a woman with unflinching teasing on her brain, but the whole community around her is indulging in sexual activity! Her grand entrance to the city is nothing short of a public striptease. Blu-ray Release Date: September 25th, 2012* In the Mood For Love BD - Hong Kong, 1962: Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) and Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung Man-yuk) move into neighboring apartments on the same day. Their encounters are formal and polite—until a discovery about their spouses creates an intimate bond between them. At once delicately mannered and visually extravagant, Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love is a masterful evocation of romantic longing and fleeting moments. With its aching musical soundtrack and exquisitely abstract cinematography by Christopher Doyle and Mark Lee Ping-bin, this film has been a major stylistic influence on the past decade of cinema, and is a milestone in Wong’s redoubtable career. Blu-ray Release Date: October 2nd, 2012 Au Pair Girls BD - In director Val Guest's sexploitation classic, four beautiful women (Gabrielle Drake, Me Me Lai, Nancie Wait and Astrid Frank) arrive in London to work on their English while they serve in their sponsors' households. But as it turns out, serve has a loose definition -- especially with the ladies' limited understanding of the native tongue -- and plenty of sexual shenanigans soon. Blu-ray Release Date: September 25th, 2012 The Testament of Dr. Mabuse BD - Locked away in an asylum for a decade and teetering between life and death, the criminal mastermind Doctor Mabuse (Rudolf Klein-Rogge) has scribbled his last will and testament: a manifesto establishing a future empire of crime. When the document’s nefarious writings start leading to terrifying parallels in reality, it’s up to Berlin’s star detective, Inspector Lohmann (Otto Wernicke, reprising his role from M) to connect the most fragmented, maddening clues in a case unlike any other. A sequel to his enormously successful silent film *Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler, Fritz Lang's The Testament of Dr. Mabuse* reunites the director with the character that had effectively launched his career. Lang put slogans and ideas expounded by the Nazis into the mouth of a madman, warning his audience of an imminent menace, which was soon to become a reality. Nazi Minister of Information Joseph Goebels saw the film as an instruction manual for terrorist action against the government and banned it for “endangering public order and security.” A landmark of mystery and suspense for countless espionage and noir thrillers to come. Blu-ray Release Date: September 24th, 2012 Casa de Lava - A nurse accompanies a comatose injured man back to his home on the island of Cape Verde - a virtually unhabited Portuguese colony off the coast of Africa - to hand his care over to family. However, on arrival no-one seems to know who he is. As she waits for someone to turn up, the young nurse gets increasingly involved with the mysterious community and intrigue mounts. Pedro Costa's second feature is a dense and ingeniously metaphoric take on Tourneur's *I Walked With A Zombie* - another unique and startling film from one of the most singular and important filmmakers working today. DVD Release Date: September 24th, 2012 The Day Time Ended - A futuristic solar home in the far desert was supposed to be their refuge from urban crime. But when Jim Davis (Dallas) and Dorothy Malone (Basic Instinct) move their family into his utopian refuge, mysterious and frightening things happen. To their horror, the family discovers they re caught in a mind boggling time warp caused by mysterious aliens with a sinister secret about earth s imminent destruction. Prehistoric monsters, humanoid replicants, and the awesome City of Light and Crystal are some of the terrors this brave family must face! DVD Release Date: September 17th, 2012 London River - London River tells the story of a friendship which develops between two seemingly unconnected people: Elizabeth (Academy Award nominee Brenda Bleythn) and Ousmane (Sotigui Kouyate). Both have come to London to search for their children who are missing in the aftermath of the 7/7 bombings. Beautifully detailed and movingly realised by Academy Award nominated director Rachid Bouchareb (*Days Of Glory), the film convincingly creates a portrait of a multi-ethnic city struggling to come to terms with the terrorist attacks. At its centre it contains a stunning lead performance from Brenda Blethyn hailed by critics as her strongest since she won a best actress Golden Globe for Secrets and Lies. Cinema Libre DVD Release Date: March 6th, 2012* It's Winter - A year in the lives of three residents of Tehran, working to build better futures, shape this compelling story of love and life. The year begins with the struggles of Mokhtar and his wife Khatoun, who barely scratch out a living on the outskirts of the city. Mokhtar goes in search of opportunities outside Iran, and then fails to return. Marhab, a heavy-machinery mechanic, spots Khatoun in the neighborhood and tries to win her affections. The year clicks by as misfortune, fate, and tragedy befall their everyday lives. Facets DVD Release Date: March 24th, 2009
