KISS ME, KILL ME is not merely a campy gay take on Hitchcock, FATAL ATTRACTION, and BASIC INSTINCT - with a side of SPELLBOUND - it is a surprisingly diverting thriller. When Dusty (AS THE WORLD TURNS' Van Hansis) catches his producer boyfriend Stephen (QUEER AS FOLK's Gale Harold) with his ex Craigery (Matthew Ludwinski, GOING DOWN IN LA-LA LAND) - who has also landed a reality TV show role Stephen promised to Dusty - he storms out of Stephen's birthday party. Stephen catches up with Dusty at the Pink Dot grocery store, but their argument is cut short by a clown-masked robber and Dusty is knocked unconscious. Dusty comes to in the hospital to discover that Stephen was shot and killed. Although the police have video of the robber entering the store before shooting out the surveillance cameras, detectives Riley (Yolonda Ross, ANTWONE FISHER) and Santos (QUEER EYE's Jai Rodriguez) suspect that Dusty had something to do with his death when they find Dusty's prints on the store clerk's pistol. Dusty's subsequent attempts to lose himself in drugs and sex make him even more suspicious. Unable to remember what happened and troubled by nightmares in which he was the killer, Dusty undergoes hypnosis sessions with his and Stephen's therapist Jeffrey (Craig Robert Young, BIG BIRDMAN), but the patient-doctor relationship blurs into something deeper that is nevertheless suspicious when viewed from the outside by the detectives. When Dusty dreams of Craigery's brutal murder only to wake up to a report of it, he starts to believe that he is capable of murder during blackouts, but it may all be an elaborate setup perpetrated by his doctor, drag queen Jasmine (D.J. Pierce, RU PAUL'S DRAG RACE) who also hypnotized Dusty as a party trick, or his best friend/lawyer Amanda (FREAKS AND GEEKS' Brianna Brown) - searching in vain for a baby daddy in West Hollywood - his former dealer Travis (MAD MEN's Kit Williamson) who always seems to be skulking in the wrong place at the right time, or any one of Stephen's cut-throat rivals (including his cat-loving lesbian production partners Jackie Monahan and Allison Lane).

Comments

This Red Dragon-lensed production is well-served by Embrem's high bitrate progressive, anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. Optional subtitles are available in several languages including English (Closed Captions are also included). The film is also accompanied by a commentary track in which the director and writer discuss the Hitchcock nods, the West Hollywood locations, the contributions of the cinematographer, and the LGBT personalities in the cast. A behind the scenes featurette covers much of the same territory with footage of Andreas attempting to convince the owner of the stylish Hollywood Hills location home about the changes the decor needed for the film. Also included is a screening red carpet Q&A, music video, Kickstarter thank you video, two trailers, and trailers for Andreas' other works.
