This seems to
have been, very unjustly, forgotten as a title by Criterion. Which is a
shame as it is my impression is that it is one of their better
releases of an older film.
Truly! Aside from some
very minor scratches (no pun intended), dust etc. on the restored
print, it is an excellent DVD package with the total inclusion of extras
and a commentary. I might be biased as I love this film to bits. The
film was previously released as All That Money Can Buy, in a
shortened 84-minute version that removed much of the fine character
acting that the film has to offer. This long version is a far better
representation of the wonderful Stephen Vincent Benet short story. I
don't have anything but good things to say about this - I hope the
screen captures below support my enthusiasm.
