Comments:
ADDITION: (Silver Screen - May 2005) - Well, the newer Silver Screen edition has less noticeable damage marks, however they are still prevalent. At times it can look slightly less sharp than the Image Entertainment disc, but the grey-scale on the Silver Screen is far superior. I'm still not 100% happy with the DVD representation of this film, but barring a full restoration, this is as good as we will see at present... which is a shame.

*****

What bad shape this great comedy is in, especially one reel where there are damage lines running, cigarette burns etc. It seems like both releases are from the same print, but Universal has done a bad job converting it to PAL with lots of ghosting when there is movement in the picture. The Image Entertainment DVD is also a bit sharper and has more nuances in the B/W colors. Don't trade your old for new in this case.

We could not match this capture on the Silver Screen edition - they probably removed it.
