Comments: ADDITION: VCI (Nov 2005 release 'Unslashed Collector's Edition') - Another disappointing release from VCI for this film. The image on new VCI disc is anamorphic this time and they carried over all extras from the previous disc. Unfortunately, the image is still better on Hände Weg disc and it's not has more information on the sides. Too bad the German DVD is no longer available. So, if you own German disc and previous VCI edition, there's no need to get a new one. If you only have German disc, you might want to pick this one up just for the excellent commentary by Tim Lucas especially since it can be purchased for under $10.

****

German disc is much superior image wise and has nice extras, but you need to speak German (or Italian, an interview with the composer Carlo Rustichelli is in Italian) to understand it. VCI disc features an excellent commentary by Tim Lucas, so I'll give them an edge for extras. VCI disc was transferred from PAL source into NTSC. German disc includes only German and Italian soundtracks (the whole film was post-dubbed, so there's no original language), but provides English subtitles. Both versions use German source and include a few seconds missing from US laserdisc. The menus and packaging is also superior for German disc.
