The Caine Mutiny is a very good Widescreen transfer, excepting the scenes with stock footage, which are obviously different from the celluloid of the film. I suppose that it was the same when it was released in 1956.

I also found the acting ( with exception of Jose Ferrer and Van Johnson who were both terrific ) to be a little over the top ( obvious ). That may of course been a sign of the times or a direction from Edward Dymetryk.. Bogie was good, but not great and the story-line of young Ensign Keith’s romance with May was totally without reason for the story. It looks like Hollywood just shoved it in for marketing purposes. However, after saying all that, it was still a marvelous film to watch. I enjoyed it.

3 ½ stars out of 5
