If the title had of been “Mrs. Robinson” and had Anne Bancroft had more than only a cursory role in the last 30 minutes of the picture, then, yes, this film could have been ranked in the top 10 of all time. The “youthful rebellion” aspect of the conclusion now looks somewhat dated, making the last half hour seem little more than a dopey love story. As it is, however, even though time may not have been kind to some aspects of the story, this is still a very good movie, worth owning, if only for Anne Bancroft’s great performance.
