Both transfers share the same source material but the HKL transfer is far superior, with print damages repaired or reduced (pic#3, scratch over Fat's left hand), better framing (the Mei Ah image is cropped on the sides, pic#4) and very good compression (while the Mei Ah transfer displays blocking artefacts in the background; pic#1, pic#5). The Mei Ah's transfer suffers from flat contrast and colors, resulting in a hazy picture (pic#2, pic#1) and is much softer, eliminating fine detail and film grain (pic#3). Furthermore the Mei Ah transfer exhibits strange color spots (Fat's cheeks in pic#3, left car's front in pic#1) and haloing (note the purple glow around Yam in pic#4). | ||||||
