(aka "Agent 69 Jensen i Skyttens tegn" or "I skyttens tegn")
directed by Werner Hedman
Denmark 1978
|
Blueprints revealing the locations of secret Soviet missiles have been stolen and secreted in one of four lookalike golden compacts (three of them have explosives which will detonate if opened). Agent K.B. Anderson (André Chazel) intercepts them during a brawl in Tangier and heads back to Denmark with them. When he realizes that another spy is on the plane with him, Anderson plants all four of the compacts on the other passengers. Back in Denmark, Anderson, Arnold (Søren Strømberg), and bumbling Jensen (Ole Soltoft, introduced in the previous entry AGENT 69 - IN THE SIGN OF SCORPIO) must track down the passengers and retrieve the compacts while contending with the Russians (including THE SINFUL DWARF's Torbin Bille), deadly Madame KomPhur (Lee Fong Wong), and Matty Harri (Gina Janssen) whose sister is being held captive by the Russians. They track the last compact down to the clinic of dietitian Wolfgang Schmierkäse (Paul Hagen) - who proposes various sex acts based on the amount of calories they burn - where much shooting, scuffling, and screwing ensues. Despite his character name in the title and his presence in all of the other entries in the series, there is little room for Soltoft in this entry amidst the glut of characters. Soltoft mugs around in a handful of unfunny scenes while Arnold, Matty Harri, and Anderson handle much of the footwork (and XXX insert-augmented sex scenes). The climax (no pun intended) fails to generate much excitement and resorts to under-cranking the action (which includes Jensen being chased by spies on a runaway stretcher with Anderson and one of Schmierkäse's sex-dieting female patients as all of the other spies run around for no purpose other than to make the scene look zany while extras continue to explicitly screw in the background. Largely a waste of time and seemingly thrown together from elements of the previous Danish Sign entry (which was the only other spy-oriented one in the series AGENT 69 JENSEN - IN THE SIGN OF THE SCORPIO which was much more entertaining and coherent). |

Smirk's DVD features an anamorphic, PAL-converted transfer with resulting heavy combing during the various types of action onscreen and is probably sourced from the recent R2 DVD release with added English subtitles. Picture quality (despite PAL-conversion issues) and audio are probably as good as the original shooting conditions allow. Animated menus and a gallery of screen shots (as opposed to promotional stills) are the only extras. AGENT JENSEN - IN THE SIGN OF SAGITTARIUS and AGENT JENSEN - IN THE SIGN OF SCORPIO were previously released by Smirk separately but this double disc set might be a better deal. |

(aka "Agent 69 Jensen i Skorpionens tegn" or "I skorpionens tegn" or "Emmanuelle in Denmark ")
directed by Werner Hedman
Denmark 1978
|
Agent Jensen (Ole Soltoft) is undercover with Swedish associate Penny (Anna Bergman) at a Danish health food store. They are to turn over microfilm for a secret formula to an American agent (the Americans are the only ones who can develop the microfilm) who gives them the code phrase "Do you need a healthy young man who knows health food, yoga, ropy milk, and thick yogurt?" Little do they know that former secret agent Irma La Douce's (Judy Gringer) son Arnold (Søren Strømberg) does not want to follow in his parents' footsteps and has decided instead to get a job at a health food store. When he approaches Jensen and inadvertently asks if the code phrase, Jensen hands over the microfilm in a white Thai travel bag and gives him the instructions on where to take it (with Jensen tailing him with a duplicate travel bag to insure security). Of course, when the American agent (Bent Rohweder) does turn up, Matty Harri and Jensen's exasperated boss (Poul Bundgaard) must intercept them before Scorpio (Karl Stegger) and his cohorts Matty Harri (Gina Janssen) and Citron-Børge (Bent Warburg) can get their hands on the microfilm and sell it to a horny sheik (Andre Chavel). Also in tow are various agents from other countries and Arnold's mother Irma (who wants to save her son and get revenge on Scorpio for killing Arnold's father) and Irma's spy girlfriend (Else Petersen). Unlike IN THE SIGN OF SAGITTARIUS which followed this film, IN THE SIGN OF SCORPIO is actually funny and zany with much running through the corridors of Scorpio's mansion, XXX insert-augmented coupling (better done than in the follow-up), sight gags, brawling, some pie fighting, and a car chase or two. Also on hand are THE SINFUL DWARF's Torbin Belle as yet another dwarf assassin. |

Smirk's presentation of this AGENT 69 JENSEN feature (the first of the two entries but presented as the second disc) is also PAL-converted (probably sourced from the recent R2 release) with heavy combing during the action scenes. The English subtitles also translate English dialogue in the film. Animated menus and a screen shot gallery are the only extras. |
