After his final job as a yakuza hit man, Tetsu, the Silver Fox, is attacked by his latest target’s henchmen. Coming to his rescue is Kenji, Tetsu’s younger, peaceful brother. In the fray Kenji kills a yakuza and the two flee to Manchuria. Hounded by the police and the yakuza, the two brothers find work with a construction firm until they can no longer hide their identities.

By the age of 75, master of style, Seijun Suzuki, had consistently been at the forefront of cinematic cool for over five decades. From Quentin Tarantino to Jim Jarmusch, Suzuki’s influence on the contemporary action genre is undeniable. Now, at 80 Suzuki is entertaining an ever wider and younger audience with his latest theatrical release, Pistol Opera.

Comments:
This appears to be the best of the Suzuki films presented on DVD by Home Vision. It is the sharpest and  has their usual quality - great removable subtitles- true aspect ratio (wonderful 2.35) - and slight on Extras. I can only assume if this did have some substantial Extra Features that all 3 recent Suzuki films would be worthy of dawning the Criterion label - this especially. I just LOVE having these campy, stylistic films in my collection. No one else would do them with this quality. Home Vision deserves commendation!  out of
