Comments:

This is a difficult DVD to review, mostly because of the heavy use of colour filters in the movie, I have never seen the movie before so it's hard to say if the colours are true against the original cinema release, but it looks fine to me. I measured the aspect ratio to 2.42:1, a bit wider than the 2.35:1  that both cover and IMdb lists, so the picture might be  squeezed a small amount but nothing deterring my viewing the film. There are quite a lot blemishes running through the print, a few heavier print damage and some grain, but it what we can expect from a 40 years old movie that hasn't been fully restored. The picture could have been sharper but that might have caused some edge enhancement which I didn't notice. The Czech soundtrack is very good - clean, no noise or hisses.  I only listened to the English dub a few minutes and it sounded clear as well. Very nice extras, but a pity that there isn't subtitles on the interviews and the history. The rest of the extras don't require subtitles. The English opening credits are in pretty bad shape and appear to be transferred from video. Overall a very fine release and I don't think we will see this great and humorous Western parody released in a better shape elsewhere, so I recommend you to buy this DVD from Czechoslovakia today.     out of .

NOTE:

Jakub Vanek from the Czech DVD site http://www.dvdbase.cz has kindly come with some additional information - The original aspect ratio is 2.55:1 so there is zoomed a little on the DVD release. The colors is true to the original cinema release
