Director Robert Connolly's "The Bank" has super math boy-wonder (David Wenham) and his high-percentage-stock-market-predicting computer program battling with his moral-less boss, a ruthless bank CEO (Anthony LaPaglia) . Extremely enjoyable, although dis-believable at times, this suspenseful thriller is right up my alley. The focus of the moral issue of the film is the faceless bank and its search for the almighty advantage over its competitors with a merciless disregard for the little man - especially one who has just lost his young boy. Solid performances, if somewhat one dimensional, but Wenham's character overcomes his moral crisis and uses his almighty brain for the side of good. This is a fun ride if you are keen on the topic. I quite enjoyed it and  give it out of

Comments:

 I keep seeing better and better discs from New Yorker. This is a great package - fine film - anamorphic, decent sound, director's commentary... my only gripe (and its an insignificant one) - there are no subtitles again. The Aussie accent was mostly understandable but I often listen with a sleeping baby in my arms, and that is where subtitles come in handy :).
