Comments:
There has been a manipulation of aspect ratio here... and I'll bet the culprit is Fox / Lorber as they have been known to do this quite a bit in the past (characters tend to look longer and slimmer). I also see instances of zooming. In terms of sharpness there is not a lot to choose from, but the Fox Lorber have obviously increased brightness... far too much ( 'at all' would be far too much to some purists ). In fact it is so bad, there is difficulty at times seeing the subtitles. Personally, I hate this type of thing. The Scanbox PAL edition has its own problems. It is a little cropped on the top. The image is kind of hazy and has a greenish tinge to it. It is quite possible that the film was made this way, but next to the overly bright Fox, it is noticeable. The Scanbox has better Extras and I have no data on an audio comparison. The Scanbox... it is the better DVD version of this film for image quality. Unfortunately the Scanbox has no English subtitles (important for me). The Fox offers an English DUB as well as subs. I wouldn't buy either for now.
