Comments:

Picture quality on R2 is better.  There seems to be some ghosting problem and contrast boosting on the R1. The time indicates that the Wellspring is using a PAL telecine'd source. The Region 1 is in 1:33:1 aspect ratio 16x9 anamorphic.  The R2 is 1:66 also enhanced for 16x9 TV. Audio quality is tie for both.  R1 has optional English subs, R2 is in French audio only with no subtitles. If you don't need the English subs, then the Region 2 is the obvious choice.
